Blog 10

Once again I must pose you with a question: What would have happened if McCandless had traveled with his little sister’s dog, Buckley? His family members admit that McCandless would have taken fewer chances if he had been traveling with Buckley. If McCandless had survived his solo odyssey, would he have considered returning home to his family, to the parents that he hated so much? I feel that McCandless would have returned to his family, but only to return the Buckley. Then McCandless would have packed up his bags and left his family behind all together. He had a strong desire to be by himself, for some reason. I recently saw an ad for a new television show called “Solitary.” Personally, “Solitary” looks absolutely inhumane, but I suppose that there is an audience for that kind of a show. Let me give you a brief description of this disturbing television show. The contestants are locked in a cell, locking them off from any form of intelligent companionship. Then the contestants are pushed to the end of their rope. Whoever manage to last the longest without having a traumatic breakdown, wins the game. I have a feeling that if McCandless had been one of the contestants on the show “Solitary”, he would have won the game. McCandless is a strange character, and I have a feeling that I will never fully understand him.
