Blog 14

I am one chapter away from terminating Into the Wild. If I had not been forced to read this novel because of school, then I probably would not have picked up this book to read it. I am not attracted to biographies, especially not to biographies of people that I have never even heard of. Even if I had heard of Christopher McCandless, I still would not have picked up this book, because reading about nature bores me. I am glad that I did end up reading this book. It was of better quality than most biographies, because of the personal level Krakauer wrote the novel on. Once again, thanks to Krakauer’s vivid language, he is able to bring McCandless to life. I can almost hear his voice, when I read the quotes selected by Krakauer. I can visualize McCandless writing those journal entries. Despite this biography’s lack of photographs of McCandless, you can still see him trekking through the wilderness of Alaska. I will never forget the name Christopher McCandless, or the title Into the Wild. There are novels that I wish I could forget, such as The Red Pony, and books that I will never forget, like The Book Thief, and I feel confident that this biography will never leave me.
